King Of Dirt Racing Night At Utica Rome Speedway Falls To Mother Nature; Rescheduled To June 24th

June 3, 2018 (Vernon, NY) – Mother Nature hasn’t been kind in 2018 to dirt track racing. With weather forecasts showing and later providing rain at the Utica Rome Speedway around 6PM, King Of Dirt Racing night at the track scheduled for June 3rd was forced to be postponed to Sunday June 24th.

The Elmo’s Speed Supply King Of Dirt Racing 358 Modified Series presented by Boss Mechanical at Utica Rome Speedway was scheduled for 40 laps of ground pounding action with some tour talents ready to mix it up with track regulars in a throw down for the crown that yielded Erick Rudolph and Matt Sheppard as winners last season.

Andy’s Speed Shop King Of Dirt Racing Sportsman Modified Series presented by Dodson Construction was scheduled for 30 laps of action during their second race of the season. Last year it was all about the flyin’ squirrel, but this season victory lane is wide open to a new metal riding warrior who dares to win.

Also scheduled as part of the race card was the King Of Dirt Racing Pro Stock tour presented by Crane’s Outdoor Power Equipment for 30 laps of full-fender action. Last season a pair of first time KOD winners emerged when Chuck Dumblewski and Rob Yetman visited Hoosier Racing Tire victory lane.

All three King Of Dirt Racing divisions will be in action Sunday June 24th at Utica Rome Speedway, which is the rain date for the June 3rd events.

“Bill was in a tough spot. We had cars coming from 4-5 hours away and we anticipated a large field, but the weather suddenly looked miserable. All week it was great, then boom; rain forecasted at about start time. Later on we found out it rained about 6 PM at the track so it was a good call, which we supported at the time he made the decision. We look forward to getting there June 24th for a great show at Utica,” said KOD promoter Rob Hazer.

For the KOD 358 Modifieds the focus shifts to Wednesday June 6th for their season opener for the tour at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway, while the Pro Stock tour waits patiently to open their season at Utica Rome on June 24th.
