Former King Of Dirt Racing 358 Modified Champion Marc Johnson Ready To Bring Home A Victory At Super Dirt Week

October 1, 2018 (Fonda, NY) – Super Dirt Week 2018 is finally here and with it brings an exciting new year of KOD at SDW. The ‘Dirty Dozen’ features drivers from the King Of Dirt Racing tours who are competing at Super Dirt Week. Part one of the Race Pro Weekly exclusive will visit Bobby Varin, Connor Cleveland, Jason Casey, and Marc Johnson who are ready to tackle the ‘clay palace’ during racing’s biggest party. We’ll finish today’s ‘Dirty Dozen’ PR off with the 2017 king of the 358 Modified tour Marc Johnson.

Marc Johnson defended his King Of Dirt Racing 358 Modified crown to the bitter end before finishing second in points respectively for the 2018 season. The ‘White Knight’ had another solid year on tour only finishing outside the top 10 once in the past 12 races. Not only is that impressive, but also explains why he’s a two-time series award winner and a perennial championship contender each season on the KOD 358 Modified tour.

Last fall was a struggle for two-time champion Marc Johnson at Super Dirt Week. Not one, but two cars went down with mechanical failure resulting in a 39th place finish for the Guilderland, NY driver in the Camping World 150. When the two-time KOD award winner and all-time leader in top five finishes on tour hits the ground running at SDW in Oswego, he’ll be looking to change his fortunes by claiming one of the most coveted and sought after 358 Modified victories on dirt.

Johnson commented on his goals for this season by saying, “We’d been racing at Super Dirt Week since 2009 when we earned the hard charger and rookie of the race in the 358 Modified division. Last year was my first ever big block attempt. I mean we tried to qualify in the past for the big block show with our 358, but we were way under powered at the mile. This year Dan Bedell helped me out a ton by refreshing my dad’s motor, because it was getting tired. So honestly it’d be nice to finish top five, but we’re going there to win.”

With Super Dirt Week officially here this King Of Dirt Racing exclusive through Race Pro Weekly featuring the ‘Dirty Dozen’ continues tomorrow with part two. We’ll take a look at another four KOD tour drivers headed to Oswego in high spirits and hopes of dirt track immortality. Those drivers include Jessey Mueller, Demetrios Drellos, Michael Sabia, and Jay Casey.
