Demetrios Drellos Having Solid Super Dirt Week Effort; Qualified For Both 358 Modified & Big Block Main Events In Oswego

October 6, 2018 (Oswego, NY) – Young gun Demetrios Drellos went into Super Dirt Week 47 at Oswego’s famed clay palace looking to qualify for both the Billy Whitaker Cars & Trux 200 and the Camping World 150. By Saturday afternoon he accomplished that goal and will fire from the 36th starting position in the DIRTcar 358 Championship 150 and 16th in the DIRTcar Big Block Championship 200.

Drellos kicked off the week by turning laps in preparation for time trials, where he’d lay down a lap of 21.520, which put him 20th fastest out of 69 Big Block Modifieds at Super Dirt Week in Oswego. He’s start 9th in his 30-lap qualifier and spend time battling with Chris Hile and Tom Sears Jr. before working his way up to a solid 5th place finish. That would lock ‘Double D’ into the Billy Whitaker Cars & Trux 200 for Sunday where he’ll start 16th.

His 358 Small Block Modified efforts were a little more stressful. Demetrios would lay down the 27th fastest lap out of 69 competitors with a time of 21.698. That would start him 9th in 358 Modified qualifier number three. During the 25-lap affair he was solidly in a qualifying spot when contact from Justin Haers send both cars to the rear. Drellos would rally to finish 14th after re-starting 23rd, but he’d have to run in the last chance qualifier.

During LCQ number two he found himself battling with Maresca and Mueller for position in the top 10, as he made his way forward. There is a lot of fight in this young dog, as he battled past Maresca for 5th and ran down Matt Farhnam for 4th. On the final lap needing one spot to qualify he made the move to pass Alan Therian and locked himself into the Camping World 150 on Saturday afternoon.
