June 8, 2022 – Fair Haven, VT – Limited Sportsman Points Update: Evan Roberts and Zach Dufel are in a heated throwdown for the crown tied atop the leaderboard, but it was Five Mile Point Speedway’s Danielle Smith stealing the headlines this week as the sole feature winner from the weekend in Elmo’s Speed Supply King Of Dirt Racing Limited Sportsman competition.
Let’s start by mentioning Can-Am Speedway has a trio of talented Limited Sportsman drivers in Owen Nier, Keegan Nier, and Paul DeRuyter, but the track lost an event to mother nature. Reason we point this out, those drivers look as though they fell down the list and that’s true momentarily. It will balance out once they reach their best 12. Their progress will of course be monitored and noted should they visit victory lane.
Each week we feature the top three KOD Limited Sportsman competitors from the past weekend’s racing action and we start with the only driver to post a victory. That would be Five Mile Point Speedway competitor Danielle Smith. The talented lady racer finds herself in a similar situation as the Can-Am racers, but is padding her stats for the long run racing her Matco Tools – Interstate Homes number 7UPjr Teo Pro Car.
Multiple drivers posted runner up finishes during this weeks point update, but it’s Devil’s Bowl Speedway driver Bubba McPhee making more noise. McPhee, a feature winner this season, scored a runner up finish moving him to third in the standings just three points back of Roberts and Dufel. He’s making the magic happen driving his All Points Construction – Mike Hance Trucking number 22J Bicknell.
Our third and final Limited Sportsman driver highlight this week belongs to Ron Delease Jr. from Albany-Saratoga Speedway. Delease posted his second top five finish of the season and for the first time has climbed into the top 10 on the leaderboard. He did so at the track dubbed Malta driving his Classic Muscle Parts – Timberline Café number 116 Teo Pro Car.
KOD LIMITED SPORTSMAN NOTES: We’ll start our notes with mentioning Kevin Ames from Lebanon Valley Speedway, who also climbed into the top 10 in Limited Sportsman standings for the first time this season. Solid rebound after taking a spill in turn one on the high banks of the valley of speed in his Markou Electric – Zia’s Pizza number 43 Teo Pro Car.
Michal Arnold, another Albany-Saratoga Speedway talent, continues to put up consistent finishes with another second place run last Friday night. He sits just two points out of the top five currently driving his Roberts Towing – Dave Prime Mac Tools number 76 DKM Cyclone.
Final note is going to Fonda Speedway driver Zach Dufel. By virtue of his second-place finish and Devil’s Bowl Speedway driver Evan Roberts finishing third, the Miracle Ear – Pro Tech Scale Services number 1H of Dufel was able to tie for the top spot once again. This throw down for the crown will surely be intense deep into the season.
