𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻, 𝗩𝗧 – Slater Baker hasn’t been racing Pro Stocks for long. Matter of fact, some would say the young full-fender driver is green or wet behind the ears. Didn’t stop him from scoring a pair of wins in 2022, and now he’s ready to throw down for the crown during the Crane’s Outdoor Power Equipment King Of Dirt Racing Pro Stock Series presented by Camenga Construction.
Baker will call Fonda Speedway and Glen Ridge Motorsports Park home in 2023. In pursuit of his best 13 finishes for the season between the two tracks, he’ll also be in contention for the Newcomer Of The Year honors, earned last year by Lebanon Valley Speedway racer Zach Sorrentino.
Last season Slater improved weekly at Fonda, while also turning in several solid performances at the fastest quarter mile on dirt. He had two wins (August 1st and August 28th), six top five finishes, and 10 top ten finishes despite not racing a full season at the Ridge.
Word on the street is Cousin Luke mentors the young fella, and with support from Horning’s Excavation, 518 Renovations, Russell Property Management, Wilson’s Towing & Recovery, Maria Cozzolino CPA, Morrison’s Auto Repair, Double H Porta Potty, and EJ McAuliffe Trucking it’s safe to believe he has the tools in place to make a splash this coming summer.
King Of Dirt Racing is heading into its 8th year of operation servicing drivers in the Northeast. While the format may have shifted from traveling to weekly, it’s still very much real and viable.
